Vancouver is located on the West Coast of Canada in the province of British Columbia (B.C.). It is the largest city in this province.

Vancouver experiences milder weather year-round and a wetter climate (see the table below). This is due to the Pacific Ocean currents warming Vancouver and the nearby range of mountains offering protection.

Vancouver is a very popular city to visit and for good reason! Not only was Vancouver the proud host of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, it has also been voted the "Best City in the Americas" before, by Condé Nast Traveler magazine, based on the categories of ambience, friendliness, culture and sites, restaurants, lodging, and shopping.

What is there not to like about Vancouver? Stanley Park is within walking distance of the city centre and is perfect for rest and relaxation. Renting a bike or roller blades to get around the sea wall is a popular past-time and one you should find time to do. In Stanley Park, you will also find the Vancouver Aquarium and the totem poles as well as trees that are hundreds of years old. Look out for the raccoons as well as the plentiful bird-life around Lost Lake.

Vancouver is seen as a “gateway to adventure”, with many tours departing from there including Alaska cruises (May to October). Whistler is a couple of hours away and there is easy access by ferry or seaplane to British Columbia’s capital, Victoria, on Vancouver Island.

The luxurious Rocky Mountaineer train departs to Banff, Jasper and Calgary from downtown Vancouver and from North Vancouver, departs to Whistler connecting Vancouver, via the Rainforest to Gold Rush Route, to Jasper. We can help with this trip of a lifetime.

A large selection of excellent downtown hotels means that you do not need a car in Vancouver, you can walk everywhere (there is the back up of the public transit if you need it!).

The Vancouver International Airport has consistently been rated as a top North American airport providing easy access from all over the world which makes Vancouver a great starting or finishing point for a Rocky Mountain Holiday itinerary!
